Sombra:scout was my Bachelor thesis project and was designed as a follow up to my previous project, Sombra V.1.. The whole outfit is composed of a hooded vest-coat with an adjustable and comfortable bag and a double-sided camouflage poncho with an urban camouflage on the outside and a forest pattern on the inside.
The main goal of Sombra:scout is to offer an intermediate protection against small and medium-sized projectiles, but still keeping all other properties of Sombra V.1. as well as a small portion of style and civil wearability.
The impenetrable vest is the most important component of this project and is created out of several layers of special UHMW fibers which are layered, woven and pleated in multiple directions of the fibers and are supported by micro carbon fibers. The whole project is theoretical, but based on a professional consultation with a specialist, it might be manufacturable within 2-5 years.
